The Uttrakhand government has decided to introduce a new insurance scheme to provide free treatment to OPDs below the age of 18 years and those over 60 years of age. It was confirmed in the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary on Wednesday. Under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, the meeting of the governing body of the Uttarakhand Health Systems Development Project was held on Wednesday in which OPD patients were also decided to start the insurance scheme. Officials said that the work of preparing an electronic health record has begun to start the scheme.
Now the rate of treatment will be decided by improving hospitals. In the first phase of the Health Development Project, the government has given Himalayan Hospital at PPP mode to Tehri, Bellevard and Devprayag Hospitals. In the second stage, it has now been decided to start OPD insurance. Around 3 million of people will be covered under this type of insurance scheme and the patients will get free OPD, free check and free medicines in Implement Private Hospitals. Government will fix prices ranging from OPD to check up and medicines. Now this scheme is being started for the children and the elderly, as it is the initial stages of the scheme later the other people also have to be included in it.
The cost of the common man is spent on treatment in the project director of the Health Development Project, Yugal Kishore Pant OPD. With the view to reduce it, it has been decided to start OPD insurance scheme. The plan is being finalized. It will be implemented soon.
