Tehri Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology
THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology (THDC-IHET) is reputed college of Uttarakhand and a first hydropower plant specialized organization of India and Asia. It is a second largest dam of the Asia which also provides the learning aid to the students also. It is an government organisation and a constituent Institute of Uttarakhand Technical University. The organization was built in the year 2011 by the joint efforts of State Government and THDC Ltd with the idea that if the young students can be teach more and more about the Hydrpower Engineering and more and more project can be build like this. This university is affiliated from the Uttrakhand Technical University, Dehradun and approved by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).
The Institution is built on the 20 acres of land of land near to the Bhagirathipuram in the District of Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The grounds is arranged on the THDC venture site of Tehri Dam. The THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology provides various B.Tech degree program in five disciples in the field of Engineering. The faculty has around 33 members from all divisions who are qualified in their field. The college has over 300 seats which are filled annually by the department. THDC-IHET has started “THDC-IHET Research and Development Center” to advance Renewable Energy Innovation by groups of researchers and architects from the establishment and some other Institutes associated to UTU. The institute has received the award for “Excellent Institute for Promoting Hydropower in Uttarakhand” in 2nd National Uttarakhand Education Summit & Awards 2015 by CMAI.
